Hacin + Associates, much like the city of Boston itself, is fantastic at balancing the old with the new. For this rowhouse, located in the tony Beacon Hill neighborhood, the interior architecture of the space melds well with modern furnishings and includes a playful custom felt floor covering.

The floor covering, crafted of 5mm Wool Design Felt in 170 Asche, is CNC cut in pieces and hand-stitched together to create an asymmetrical floor mat that adds interest and depth to the space. FilzFelt’s hand stitching technique, originally developed by Nepalese stitchers whose trade was repairing hand-knotted oriental rugs, is a lovely contrast to the precise computer-driven cutting.
