Kpod

Scalloped Sound Softening in a Bustling Restaurant

At Kpod restaurant in Philadelphia, soft, rounded shapes and a playful color palette come together with K-pop references to set a happy tone for the restaurant’s eclectic Korean-American menu. Lance Saunders, Director of Design at Philadelphia-based Stokes Architecture + Design, swaps out the previous space’s glossy white and “Stanley Kubrick-looking” aesthetic for fun silhouettes and saturated colors. Rows of ceiling-mounted custom cut 5mm-thick felt in an earthy palette set contrast to the colorful tiled surfaces and play up the space’s fun and lively ambiance while helping to temper sound in the bustling restaurant.
